The emblem pays tribute to The King’s love of the natural world,
unifying the flora of the four nations of the United Kingdom; the rose
of England, the thistle of Scotland, the daffodil of Wales and the
shamrock of Northern Ireland. Together, the flowers create the shape of
St Edward’s Crown, with which His Majesty The King will be crowned
during the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, 6th May.
The emblem has been designed using the red, white and blue of the union
flag.
Welcome to my website counting down to the the coronation of His
The last coronation of an English Monarch - HM Queen Elizabeth II was 3rd June 1953. It has been 70 years and most of the world's population was not alive then. So for many of us this is the event of a lifetime. Some of us will be lucky enough to see Prince William crowned in due course but hopefully it will be many decades before his son Prince George comes to the throne.
Over the coming weeks I will update you on what to expect on the day, the history of a coronation, the working royals who will take part and celebratory events on the surrounding days.
It will be my pleasure to report from London over the coronation week to give you a first hand account.
